Research Presentation to The Car People Completed - Includes My Research Presentation & Questionnaire Findings (Visually):

Just done my interim research presentation to The Car People at Uni.
Got some interesting feedback, and as a result, I am planning to go forward with my brief to design a new car security product or system.
On my way out out of Uni  after my presentation, I saw these electric Nissan Leafs in the MMU electric car parking bays - good to see MMU embracing the environment.
Furthermore, on my drive home, I have never been so badly affected by sun glare and lousy sun visors as I have today - convenient seeing as though my other design brief option was to tackle this very issue.

See below, my Research Presentation Slides as presented to the clients, and members of MMU:

Cars of the Future (Full Documentary):

Possibly the most interesting documentary I've watched - particularly impressed with Mercedes-Benz's F400 Carving and Volvo's SCC concepts:

Additional Project Support by Motrax, Wilmslow:

I had an interesting chat with Robert Taylor at Motrax in Wilmslow yesterday about this project. We spoke about various problems which car drivers and passengers can experience, such as the ease of sun visor operation and their effectiveness and de-misting a vehicle on a cold morning.

Robert, was happy to support the project further, in terms of offering his advice and expertise on on the what users are likely to require from the product/system I eventually end up designing.

Motrax, also kindly allowed my to display my questionnaires in their shop for customers to fill out whilst they wait.

Thanks again

Questionnaire 1 - You & Your Car:

The following link takes you to my online questionnaire, entitled: 'You & Your Car' - http://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/KZSBW/

I have also have a hardcopy version of this questionnaire available in various local shops for their customers to complete.

I have also approached people on the streets in the centre of Wilmslow to ask their opinions - of which there where a surprising number of people who seemed more than happy to share their experiences and opinions on the matters addressed within the questionnaire.

18/10/2015 - Wilmslow Motor Show 2015:

On the Saturday (12/10/2015), I attended Wilmslow Motor Show 2015:

Magazine Excerpt - Promoting the Wilmslow Motor Show 2015:
The show, now in it's third year, is based in the centre of Wilmslow, Cheshire, and exhibits a broad range of supercars (new and old) from Ferraris and Lamborghinis to Bentleys and Aston Martins. As usual, the atmosphere was absolutely incredible; the sublime soprano of a V12 Ferrari in one ear, and brutal baritone from a V8 AMG Mercedes-Benz in the other, all infused by the mutual enthusiasm of the cheering crowds they had drawn - Bliss:

Video clips below, only go part way to capturing the true atmosphere of the day:

I also got to speak to some exhibitors about this project (before we were given the brief) to do some broad preliminary research, as well as having a look inside some of the cars to acquaint myself with the feature which some of the newer cars have to offer their occupants.

Below are a selection of my favourite images from the day:

Watching Top Gear to supplement my research:

Never thought I would find myself watching old Top Gear episodes to aid my research into a Product Design Project...

Nobody quite highlights a car's problems like Clarkson!

Project Briefing by Jonathon Allbones from 'The Car People':

Today, course lecturer Mike Burns, and Director of 'The Car People' Jonathon Allbones, initiated the brief for an exiting new live project, entitled: 'Design a Car Feature to Improve People's Lives'.

As a self-confessed car-addict, I cannot wait to get off the line with this project. As an aspiring product designer, I am always thinking of new solutions to problems, and naturally a lot of them do tend to co-inside with my passion for anything vaguely automotive-related. It looks like it's time to dig out my notebook of inventions from my desk drawer!
